Star Trek XI: The Search for Togas

Variety magazine reported today that Paramount has assigned director and Alias/Lost creator J. J. Abrams to reinvigorate the Star Trek franchise, with Abrams having just turned in Mission: Impossible III.

If the early buzz holds that MI: 3 is the best of the series, this hire could prove to be a very logical one indeed. Thing is, it’s a “reboot” of the franchise, like Batman Begins was, and Casino Royale is supposed to be for 007.

That means that Star Trek XI would be about the early days of Spock and Kirk at Starfleet Academy. Which begs the question:

So this will be like Animal House with phasers?
