Do you remember what you were doing when you first heard about the 9/11 attacks 10 years ago?
KENT MEYER, Bellbrook: “I was in Ireland on a golf outing. When we went into the clubhouse after our rounds, it was on the news. Then I went to a nearby Catholic church. And I’m not Catholic.”
TONI CREAMER, Xenia: “I was at work at Walmart, where I still work. An associate came in and told us what had happened. Then a manager put TVs in every area of the store, so that we could all monitor it.”
PAUL POWELL, Centerville: “I was getting ready for work with the TV on CNN, and I saw the first building on fire. I just thought there had been an explosion. But then I felt complete disbelief when the second plane hit. I saw it hit behind the reporter, who had no idea what was going on back there.”
CASEY HODNETT, Bellbrook: “I was in Houston in a motel room watching TV with the volume on mute. I thought the first plane was a simulation, and when the second one hit, my heart sank. I turned the volume up and told my wife we were under attack.”
VICKI LONG, Xenia: “I was at home, watching the ‘Today’ show, and they just went straight to it. I don’t remember many things in life, but I remember that.”
CARLA CRANE, Cincinnati: “It was my first day back in the office after vacation. The guy in the office next to me got off the phone and said, ‘Hey, did you know a plane just hit one of the Twin Towers?’ Another colleague and I didn’t really believe him. And then the news started going through the office, especially after the second one hit, and we all started watching TV.”
