Do you like or listen to vinyl records?
The fastest-growing musical format in 2010 was vinyl records, with 2.8 million units sold. Do you like or listen to vinyl?
KRISTIN HIATT, Beavercreek: “My stepdad still listens to vinyl. He’ll buy new stuff if it’s available. He listens to his old Beatles and Neil Young. I believe Neil Young recently came out with a CD that was also available in vinyl, and he bought that.”
ADRIAN DOWNEY, Dayton: “No. I never did. I don’t really hear anybody else talking about it, either.”
OWEN CALLAHAN, Dayton: “I used to have hundreds of vinyl albums. I kept them through a couple of moves before I left them. I know some people who are buying them again. One guy won’t listen to anything but vinyl. He’s a real audiophile.”
EMILY ALLEX, Dayton: “No. I download most of the music I have. I don’t know anyone who plays vinyl records.”
JOSH BALES, Englewood: “I don’t listen to it, but I know a lot of people who do. And I know a lot of bands are putting their music out on vinyl because it’s becoming increasingly popular.”
EMILY ALVAREZ, Dayton: “Nobody at UC talks about that. I’d be interested if somebody asked me to take a listen. I listen to music on radio. I don’t buy anything.”

The audiophile vinyl available today is just amazing. Acoustic Sounds, Elusive Disc, and SoundStage Direct are some of the large online retailers. The average price range is $20 to $50 depending on the title. There are 45 RPM LP available now for some the best sounding titles. Fleetwood Mac Rumors will be released as two 45 RPM LP albums on April 15. Locally, Hanson Audio in Kettering still demos turntables and vinyl in their listening rooms.

Yes, I do love to listen to vinyl. Most of the rereleased 180 gram audiophile vinyl comes with the original album cover and artwork, including the old gatefold covers.

I do occasionally. I have about 200 old vinyl albums from years back. Just looking through them spurs a lot of memories.

I remember growing up we had a stack of 45’s and a small record player that we loved.

VINYL rules! Always has, always will. The sound of vinyl is real. CDs give me digital fatigue…
