How do you think Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler will do as new judges on “American Idol”?
KAYLA CALHOUN, Middletown: “They’ll be good. They’re nice people, and they’re not just rude, like Simon (Cowell) was.”
TAMREN BUNKER, Sidney: “I don’t really think they’ll be good. The originals who started the show — Simon and Paula (Abdul) — were great. They gave straightforward opinions, and I’ll miss them.”
KIM CIRIEGIO, Sidney: “I think they’re both great singers, but Simon would definitely cut someone he thought wouldn’t make it in the industry. I honestly don’t know if they can be that critical. And will they base their judgments on their own style of singing?”
SHANNON CAMPBELL, Bellbrook: “I usually watch the first two weeks of early auditions. I don’t want to be mean, but it’s funny when the singers are really, really bad. I don’t think it’s going to be the same without Simon. But I do love Steven Tyler.”
DERRICK HARRIS, Moraine: “I think they’ll do fine. They’ve been in the business, they know what to look for, and they have longevity. They know the notes, presentation, stage presence and entertainment factors. But I’ll miss Simon. Simon kept it real.”

My prediction: final year for the show. It had a good run but its time has passed.

I think they will do just fine. I did like it best when it was just Paula, Dog, and Simon though. Tyler killed it last night on the Beatles. What a performer he is! He’s one of the best!!

As a performer, I would be nervous having someone who looks like a death camp survivor, (Tyler), staring at me, and giving final judgement on my performance. I’d want to stop my performance, call in some medics, hook him up to an I.V….shoot him with morphine (he’ll really like that!!!), tell him he’ll be O.K. and “the Medivac Chopper will be here shortly………”
