Should we raise the standard retirement age from 67 to 69 in 2075?
Would you be OK with raising the standard retirement age from 67 to 69 in 2075 (affecting today’s toddlers) in order to help reduce the federal deficit?
DORIS WOOD, Miamisburg: “I really wouldn’t be in favor of it. I’m 76 already, and I put in 36 years. There are some people who just shouldn’t be doing certain jobs if they’re 65 or older.”
JOE REICHERT, Kettering: “No problem with that. It makes sense. By then, your age expectancy will probably be longer, and it won’t be that different from 65 today. And those people would be geared for that from day one.”
LINDA OLIVER-STEELE, Monroe: “I don’t really have any strong feeling about it. If I needed to make a choice, and it would help the overall economy, I could be OK with it. But I’d have to see evidence that it would significantly help.”
MIKE FISHERBACK, New Madison: “I retired at 52. It would bother me if it affected my grandkids. They should be able to retire when they want to.”
