Do you tip for hotel maid service?
Many travelers do not tip for maid service at hotels. Do you tip the maids? How much?
JOE COLEMAN, Butler Twp.: “If I’m there more than one night, I usually leave a couple of bucks a day.”
TRACEE BROWNING, Huber Heights: “Sometimes we do. The service determines it — if the beds are turned down, that sort of thing. We tip from the bellman all the way down.”
LISA OTTMAN, Kettering: “I typically do not leave a tip. The only time I have is when it was an arranged, conference type of trip. And on cruises. Otherwise, I assume it’s included in the price of the rooms.”
GEORGE ENINGER, Dayton: “I used to work at the Hyatt in Cincinnati. The staff is hired knowing that it’s not a ‘tip’ type of job. They’re paid decently. But if people do tip them, that’s great. It’s a lot of hard work.”
ANGIE WETZEL, Huber Heights: “I typically don’t tip in a hotel.”

Of course I do! I cannot believe that people dontleave tips. Most of these people dont make a living wage and they work their butts off. It is not easy work and they put up with a lot from customers. For those of you who do not tip you should be ASHAMED of yourselves!!!!!

I put out the Do Not Disturb sign the moment I walk in the room and leave it there until I check out. I don’t want anyone in my room when I’m not there - not that the sign necessarily keeps the staff out, but I can hope.

Yes. The two best tips I have given are: 1)Avoid walking alone in dark alleys 2)Wisdom outweighs any wealth

It amazes me that the people who work as maids are easy to skip, you take the service for granted, the poor things get terrible wages and race from room to room. Here is what I do. I leave 5 bucks a night. I know I get extra attention and I like plenty of towels and nice fully pillows. WHo do you think does that for you? The front desk? Also do you like clean sheets, well there is a way to get them without being a bytch about it. Heck we all blow 5.00 without even thinking about it, very easy to do when traveling. Give the girl (or guy) a tip and make their day.

Lisa Ottman is a terrible person who is selfish. TRACEE BROWNING would find a tip and a nice note will do wonders for her stay. ANGIE WETZEL does not value females who work in service related jobs. Oh honey don’t forget your apron. GEORGE ENINGER was not working at minimum wage with a quick turn around pressuring him and a boss that speaks only Spanish. Ok Mt Hyatt I mean you!I once stayed at an Hyatt and no fooling the egg (as in one egg only, no toast, not even a second egg was 7.50 each (Louisville, Ky)Maybe he is a bad eggs but really a cheap one, a person he give zero for (unless he still gets employee discounts) JOE COLEMAN,throws out the loose changes and thinks he is a big man, but only if he is coming back, other wise forget abut it. Minimum George is something he is known for just ask his wife and his girlfriend. They may get his money but the rest falls way short with a guy like this. Who said it best was the first post:By MANDIBLE WHO SAID Yes, I say “don’t let the bed bugs bite.”

Nan…I hope you care about who’s removing your clothes…I’m an old crotchety geezer, I salivate alot, pass horrendous gas, don’t shave/shower (basically a twin of the character in the Jethro Tull song “Aqualung”),…..so I am hoping you have some descretion.

One night stay, I tip a couple of dollars. More than one night, more money. For a week, each maid gets about 20$.

I have a sister who has worked in the hotel/motel buisness for many years. The veral abuse from the boss not to mention the customers can be overwhelming.Yes, she deserves a tip. She works very hard at what she does.I would consider a”TIP”a frenge benefit now days.So I want to wish all you hard working hotel/motel employees well especially to my sister. Keep collecting those tips.
