Nutrisystem drops Lawrence Taylor as spokesman
Nutrisystem has dropped more than 200 pounds.
The company announced late Thursday that it has dumped Pro Football Hall of Famer and accused rapist Lawrence Taylor as a celebrity spokesman.
“We’ve made the decision to sever our relationship with Lawrence effective immediately because of the seriousness of the allegations,” Susan McGowan, a spokeswoman for the weight-loss company, told USA Today.
The former Dancing with the Stars contestant was let go just hours after he was charged with third-degree rape and patronizing a prostitute for an alleged attack on a 15-year-old prostitute.
According to TMZ, the girl told the Taylor she was 19.
Taylor sexually assaulted the girl, a runaway beaten and controlled by a pimp, in a Ramapo, N.Y. Holiday Inn.
Investigators say the girl was kicked and punched before being delivered against her will to Taylor’s room. The ex-NFL star paid t her $300, they say.
This isn’t Taylor’s first run-in with the law.
He has a history of drug-related conviction, tax evasion and last year was arrested on a hit-and-run charge.
With his history, one wonders why Nutrisystem (or DWTS for that matter) hired him in the first place.
