Who do you think should win the Oscar?
The Oscar nominations have been announced and believe it or not, the instant classic “Sorority Row” was shut out of the Best Picture category.
Right, right, surprise, surprise.
“The Blind Side” and nine movies that actually were very good did get the nomination for the award ceremony set to air March 7 on ABC.
As E Online points out, a few films and people got the cold shoulder, including “Star Trek,” “The Hangover” and “Michael Jackson.”
What do you think?

Avatar was great, but I don’t think it deserves best picture. It made a lot of money, had a good story, and amazing visuals. It will win a lot of the cinematography related awards, sure, but I am not seeing it as the “Best Picture.” Granted, I haven’t seen any of the others except the Hurt Locker, which I was not impressed.
By red carpet for me

I think someone in Oscar’s family should get it for a change. After all he is the one everyone is clamoring about.

Although I do not yet see it noted…I am sure you are aware that two film-makers, Julia Reichert and Steven Bognar, from Yellow Springs were nominated in the category of Best Documentary-Short Subject for The Last Truck: the closing of A GM Plant. The film shows tonight at University of Dayton at 7 pm. Although the story that they told was a sad moment for the Miami Valley, this is a proud moment for these fearless film-makers and for the people they featured in the documentary.
