Skyline? White Castle? For Valentine’s Day? Really?
Last week our food writer, Teri Horsley, wrote a fun piece about “romantic” dining options where you might not expect them: At fast-food places like White Castle and Skyline.
And all I can think is “Uh … really?”
I hate to be a killjoy. And I’ve got nothing against White Castle or Skyline. I like to eat at both places, but neither of them strikes me as particularly romantic.
I’m not saying a Valentine’s Day date has to be at any ritzy place that costs $40 a plate. But eating at a place that costs $5 or $10 a plate seems chintzy to me. To, me a Valentine’s Day fast food dinner only flies if you met at the place, or if you both work there. And if you both work there, I’d be willing to bet you’re anxious to eat someone else. If any girl I dated tried to take me to Skyline or White Castle for Valentine’s Day, that relationship will be on the rocks REAL quick.
But that’s just me. So let me ask you: What would you think if your date took you to a fast-food place for Valentine’s Day? And what unusual Valentine’s Day dates have you had?
