Here come the holidays … what would make a good story?

Now that Halloween is behind us, Christmas is now in front of us. New Year’s too. And I seem to remember there’s this day called Thanksgiving that comes first …

That being the case, I’m beginning to round up the always massive list of holiday events. Of course, favorites like Light Up Middletown and Holiday Lights on the Hill will be covered … but I’d also like to find some more “out of the way” attractions in Butler or Warren counties. I’m talking about those events that don’t get much attention, but maybe deserve a little more.

We plan to publish the list in the Nov. 12 edition of our LIFE section since so many events start early this year. Feel free to post your suggestions in the comments, or on Facebook if you prefer. And remember, at the time of this typing, there are only 54 shopping days until Christmas …

I think it would be a good idea to tell some stories of the local service members that have graduated locally and are spread across the world. So many people forget about the impact that service members have on so many people including family and friends.

I would love to see a list of church and school Christmas festivities. Nothing says Christmas like watching little kids re-enact the Nativity scene or sing Christmas carols.

I would like to see a list of local holiday lights. A lot of people don’t have the money to go to the Zoo or other places that charge to get in.

I think a story about our service men and women from the area would be great. We need to remember those who are not able to come home for the holidays. God Bless them for their sacrifices!!

I believe the people helping people story. It does our hearts good to hear of the heroic deeds of others, perhaps to motivate all of us to do the same. help someone clean a yard, wrap a gift, deliver a dinner. It’s an incentive for all of us to help our neighbors. Just one deed can bring about a change in someones life, lets hear how we can do so also.
