What kind of Haunted House would YOU make?
We’ve put up our roundup of area Halloween haunts, and last week I checked out the new additions to The Land of Illusion just outside of Middletown.
Judging by some of the comments on these stories, some people aren’t real fond of these places - or at the very least they don’t like the price.
But that’s got me wondering - what IS a truly scary haunted place to you? I would submit that using some place that’s already old and creepy would fill the bill - sort of like what Sorg Opera House did in recent years, or like the former Haunted Mill at the really old Harding-Jones place behind Kroger at Engle’s corner.
Personally, I think the scariest haunted place that I’ve ever heard of is the one at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, where The Shawshank Redemption was shot. I’m not sure if they still have the haunted attraction there per se now, but if they do, I’d be curious to check it out.
So what would be your idea haunted place? Or what haunted attraction do you like best around here? And if you don’t see an area haunt on your list, shoot me an email, and I’ll make sure we add it.
