What do you think of La Comedia?

Late last week I wrote a preview story about La Comedia Dinner Theatre’s new show, Church Basement Ladies, playing through July, and I thought it would be fun to ask you all:

What do you think of La Comedia? I know it has a lot of regulars who love the place, but I’d like to hear some testimony as to why? And if you do like it, what was your favorite show there?

On the other hand, if you’re not a fan, why not?

I’ve been to many of their shows over the years and generally find them very entertaining. Some might argue the shows are cheesy, and there’s some truth to that - but I think that’s part of the fun. The musical and the meal can both be corny in their own ways.

I do wish, though, that the theater could find a way to do more shows with live bands. The artificial-sounding canned music can sometimes undercut the high energy of the performances.

That aside, I find the place a lot of fun. Some of my favorite shows have included last year’s Annie and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

What do you say?

Me and my husband love the La Comedia. Its a nice place to have dinner and a show. There is not to many places left around this area where you can get both. My favorite show at the La Comedia was probably Beauty and the Beast. Its always been a favorite of mine and I feel they done such a great job performing it.Ive never been disappointed.

Well….don’t know. Never have been there. How about La Comedia offering a “newcomers special” with a free trial visit. Then, we’ll tell you what we think about it. 10/4?

I’ve only been there once and I saw Phanton. The food was good and the show was excellent but, the stage scenery was pathetic. I’ve seen better scenery in high school plays.

I have been several times and really love the actors and music plus singers. My son lives in New York and I was curious as to the quality of theater here. He said the quality was surprisingly good and we have a date the next time he is in town. So a BIG THANK YOU to all those who participate from the excellent service to curtain down.

We used to be regulars, but we have found that the caliber of talent and choreography have diminished over the last year or so perhaps because they have apparently stopped recruiting in New York. When the talent was there, we overlooked the fact that the food quality was not as good as it could be. When the talent-level returns, so will we.

Been a season ticket holder for about 5 years now. Though we do love going, we are getting quite tired of the same food over & over! They never change the menu up at all! We love the shows, could agree the backgrounds aren’t that great and the music isn’t that good, we generally love going! Favorite shows would have to be “Phantom of the Opera” and “Phantom”!! Will still stay a season ticket holder though!

La Comedia is nothing mor than a place for the self-proclaimed wannabe elite of Springboro to pretend they have class. It is like the rednecks of Franklin pretending they have class by naming a downtown hole in the wall “The Bistro”.

But obviously Bill didnt mention if he had actually been to LaComedia before putting it down. Our family generally goes about once a year for a special occasion or with a group. I like it. It’s something different to do. The foods pretty good and my girls like to get a little more dressed up than if we were just going to Applebee’s or somewhere for dinner. We will continue to go as the ocassion presents itself. I might add… we are NOT from Springboro OR Franklin. (and I like the Bistro) lol Good Day!

I really enjoy the shows and performances. I always encourage family and friends to visit at least once and they will definitely want to return. Of course it is not of Broadway caliber, nor should anyone expect it to be, but the shows are still very entertaining and make for a pleasant evening. I feel the pricing is reasonable. I agree that the menu needs to change more often and offer more variety.

We have been there a number of times throughout the past decade. Remember the drive to dayton or cincinnati, parking, dinning, and then the performance either across the street or town. Good or Bad weather. The overall cost is well worth the money. Enjoy the show, youre not there for anyone or anything else, ie:people in whatever city. Keep a lookout for Prestige Dinning Club cards, entertainment books, for they both give you 50% off, making the dinner and show around 65.00 not bad at all,,,,,,
