What do you think of La Comedia?
Late last week I wrote a preview story about La Comedia Dinner Theatre’s new show, Church Basement Ladies, playing through July, and I thought it would be fun to ask you all:
What do you think of La Comedia? I know it has a lot of regulars who love the place, but I’d like to hear some testimony as to why? And if you do like it, what was your favorite show there?
On the other hand, if you’re not a fan, why not?
I’ve been to many of their shows over the years and generally find them very entertaining. Some might argue the shows are cheesy, and there’s some truth to that - but I think that’s part of the fun. The musical and the meal can both be corny in their own ways.
I do wish, though, that the theater could find a way to do more shows with live bands. The artificial-sounding canned music can sometimes undercut the high energy of the performances.
That aside, I find the place a lot of fun. Some of my favorite shows have included last year’s Annie and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
What do you say?
