All this green beer stuff …

  • reminds me of another kind of green liquid. My favorite moment in the movie The Fugitive is when we see the river being dyed green for the St. Patrick’s day festivities in Chicago. One of the cops says, “If they can dye the river green today, why can’t they dye it blue the other 364 days of the year?”

What’s your favorite sort of St. Patrick’s day revelry?

Green Beer Day, judging from the pictures, seems to be a frolic for a bunch of spoiled, rotten little brats in Oxford spending mommy and daddy’s money. None of those privileged little punks have worked a day in their life.

Green beer day, judging from the pictures, seems to be a frolic of young adults enjoying a break from their studies. It’s erroneous to assume that all students are spoiled rotten brats and to assume none of them have worked a day in their life. You’d be surprised how many students work either full time or part time in order to obtain a degree, which is almost expected of young adults by society nowadays, pay for books, and support their living expenses. It’s true that some students may get a little out of hand but there’s always one person that will give the rest of the crowd a bad name. That goes for all groups, not just college students. I’m sure the numbers of non-student DUIs, public disturbances, and public intoxications are far more staggering than for college students alone. Attending school full time is physically and mentally taxing and who are you to say these students don’t deserve a chance to enjoy time with their friends and peers. Friends and peers whom they may never see again after graduation.

I have a son who attends Miami who was up at 3:30 a.m. to go up town and take part in the hoopla of the day the only thing different was him and the other 15 students were grilling pancakes and telling the kids about the love of the Lord . He attends the Bridge church in Oxford so I guess not all kids were there for the green beer in .Oxford so
