Butler County Dems to attend ethics seminar
The Ohio Ethics Commission will have an Ethics Education Session in the region “to help public servants and the private sector better understand the ethics law.”
The Butler County Democratic Party issued a statement indicating its officers and candidates plan to attend the 90-minute seminar.
“The Butler County Democratic Party is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards amongst its officers and candidates,” said Jocelyn Bucaro, Butler County Democratic Party executive committee chair.
Bucaro continued to say: “For too long, local Republican elected officials have violated the ethics and criminal laws of Ohio, only to say they did not know their conduct was illegal. At no time have they expressed a desire to reform government or commit themselves to a higher ethical standard. If ignorance really is a defense to misconduct, then now is the time for education.”
This session is one of many offered by the Ohio Ethics Commission to thousands of public officials, employees and offices at all levels of government.
According to a press release, the session will provide timely information regarding Ohio’s ethics law, including how to identify and avoid acting on potential personal, family, or business conflicts of interest to the public interest, appreciating ethics prohibitions related to public contracts, and identifying potential post-employment requirements.
“Due to budget restraints that state is experiencing, the Commission is not able to travel to as many individual locations for ethics education, particularly when attendance is expected to be low,” said Ohio Ethics Commission Executive Director David E. Freel. “Regional sessions such as this one assist local public servants, whether hired, elected, appointed, full-time, part-time, staff or management in public agencies to receive Ethics Education in a cost-effective manner.”
The Central Ohio Ethics Education Session will be presented from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28 conference rooms A and B in the Government Services Building, 315 High Street, Hamilton.

Democrats and ethics? Now that is a true contradiction of terms! The means justify the ends with the Party of Foodstamps. Personal attack and destruction, perpetuation of falsehood, election fraud- all are on the table when it comes to the Dems. It would be nice to think that there could be an ethical nature to the Party but a quick seminar will not change the integral strategy and tactics perpetuated at the highest levels no more than the local Party can separate itself from the central ideology of the organization.

I definitely want to read a bit more on this blog soon. BTW, pretty good design you have at this site, but don’t you think design should be changed once in a few months?

My Dear Mr. Kreitzer, have you no shame? Do you not live in Butler County? Do you believe that we should tolerate law-breaking, unethical politicians no matter what the stripe. Let me remind you what is happening in your own backyard - in Butler County. Michael Fox, our former Republican Butler County Commissioner indicted for mail fraud, conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, and filing a false tax return, including an allegation he took over $600,000 in bribes and kickbacks and filed fraudulent financial disclosure statements with the Ohio Ethics Commission. Kay Rogers, our former Republican Butler County Auditor, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and tax fraud, included filing a fraudulent financial disclosure statement with the Ohio Ethics Commission. She is awaiting sentencing. Carole Mosketti, our former Butler County Republican Treasurer - pleaded guilty to using the authority and influence of her office to obtain a thing of value, crime. Joe Ruscigno, a former Butler County Republican finance director pleaded guilty to federal tax obstruction charges. Charles Furmon, a current Butler County Commissioner is reportedly under investigation by the Ohio Ethics Commission, involving allegations of illegal nepotism. Gregory Jolivette, also a current Butler County Commissioner is reportedly under investigation by the Ohio Ethics Commission, involving allegations of nepotism. And Dave, you believe there is no ethical problem here in Butler County. Dave, you should be glad there are those who care about ethics. We are financially and morally bankrupt. What are we doing to ourselves? Please open your heart and mind.

One would have to be a fool to think that the lack of ethical behavior among political candidates is something new. Pointing out unethical behavior of political opponents has become quite a bipartisan sport, particularly in the past half century or so. It is really not a new sport, its just that todays technology has made has made it easier for them to do. Attacks on political opponents have gone way beyond the issues and more personal in nature. A lot of times if a candidate isn’t a tactfull mudslinger, it can be more of a negative than a positive for them. When candidates step out of bounds and attack their opponents families, patriotism, moral convictions, and even their appearance, it kind of shows a desperation on their part. Its seems that politics in general have become much less ethnical in nature since the candidates of the great generation have aged beyond running for office.

I hope someone ask why it’s not ethical for a commissioners wife to work for the county but it’s OK for a live-in girlfriend of a county commissioner to hold a high level county job.

Let’s see: Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Bridget McCafferty indicted…(Democrat) Democratic Party Chairman Jimmy Dimora indicted…(Democrat) You could go on for days, just with Ohio Politicians. What about Barney Frank having sexual relations with his male aid and giving him a cushy Governemtnjob? Democrats don’t want to play the morality card. It’s laughable. Congressman Jim Traficant; six years in prison for corruption charges… (Democrat)

Convenient, isn’t it, when “Just the Facts” only remembers acts of wrong-doing by Democrats, as if the other party had not crossed the line. What helped drive Taft out of office? But we’re dealing with local politics here, where things haven’t been above board for quite some time. Whoever thinks anybody involved in politics can’t learn something from an ethics seminar is simply unwilling to see the whole picture.

That’s where you’re wrong Pete. I remember just as many crooked Republicans. That’s why I think Pitman’s article is Liberal garbage. Typical of the media to slam Conservatives and Republicans. Look at all the crap Barack Obama has got a free pass on. He’s more crooked than Nixon! What about Pelosi’s promise to be the most transparent Administration ever. IMO they are quite the opposite.

FYI Pete, Term Limits drove Bob Taft out of office. He was ineligible to run again. Convenient isn’t it when you completely ignore the facts for fear that they might screw up a perfectly good story. Let’s not forget the DEMOCRAT who created the “witch hunt” against Governor Taft was forced to resign for SEXUAL MISCONDUCT AND CORRUPTION. None other than Ohio’s #1 Law Man, Attorney General Mark Dann.

How about we clean up what we can? The corrupt local all Republican mess in our county! See Freedom Fighter above. Do that and then you’d all have some credibility.

@ Local voter, I agree with your clean up idea. I’m not sure I can agree with “all republican mess”. Dixon and Jolivette were long time democrats that changed parties, and just because they changed parties doesn’t mean their ideology changed.
