Change Butler PAC formed

Press release from the Change Butler PAC, one of two new political action committees recently formed from the remnants of Pres. Barack Obama’s campaign (we reported on that here). I’m told there may soon be a third PAC formed in Middletown.

Anyway, here is the press release:

A new grassroots political action committee, Change Butler, was officially created in Butler County last month. The PAC was started by neighborhood volunteers from the Obama/Biden campaign in Liberty, Monroe, West Chester, Fairfield, and Hamilton. The organization has been bolstered by other Democrats in Butler County, and voters who believe it is time for a change.

The new PAC is part of President Barack Obama’s “Organizing for America” movement. It is a volunteer driven organization continuing to build on the grassroots network of over 1,000 volunteers who worked on the Obama campaign in the area. “Change Butler will build on the energy and involvement sparked by the Presidential campaign and channel that enthusiasm to make a positive impact locally in our community,” said Jocelyn Bucaro, a neighborhood volunteer in the Obama campaign and co-founder of Change Butler.

The organization will promote progressive ideas and accountability in Butler County and beyond. It will to work on issues such as improving our health care system, and promoting environmentally friendly programs such as expanded recycling. Tony Klimek, a former Democrat legislative candidate from West Chester, said, “Change Butler, other PACs, and the Democrat Party in Butler County will promote new ideas and alternative candidates to the voters. A healthy two party system that promotes accountability and provides viable choices to the voters can only improve government in Butler County.”

The PAC also is answering the call of President Obama to volunteer for the good of the community through service projects. Change Butler initiated a clothing drive and donated winter clothing to local charities before Inauguration Day; it is now working on a food and clothing drive.

Change Butler will hold its next general meeting at the IBEW Hall at 4300 Millikin Road in Liberty Township on Monday, February 23, at 7:00 pm. New members and those wishing to learn more about Change Butler are welcome to attend.
