OSU picked to win Big Ten; Pryor grabs preseason honor

Ohio State is predicted to win the Big Ten conference this year and its quarterback has been named the preseason Offensive Player of the Year, the conference announced Monday.

The Buckeyes have won at least a share of the last five Big Ten titles. Iowa is the No. 2 pick and Wisconsin third in the preseason poll.

Pryor’s honor is a repeat of last year. It’s the first time that’s happened since Wisconsin’s Ron Dayne was the preseason Offensive Player of the Year in 1997, 1998 and 1999.

The Big Ten selection for preseason Defensive Player of the Year is Michigan State’s Greg Jones. He was also bestowed that honor in 2009. The last repeat defensive preseason player of the year was Ohio State’s James Laurinaitis in 2007 and 2008.
