Buckeyes, Trojans to clash in primetime on ESPN

No surprise here: Ohio State and Southern Cal will play in prime time when the Trojans visit the Shoe on Sept. 12, OSU announced this morning.

But the rematch is not on ABC. The 8 p.m. game will be televised on ESPN. Of course, if ABC had its way we couldn’t tell the difference. You know, that “ESPN on ABC” nonsense.

Anyway, if you don’t have cable you’ll have to mooch off a friend or head to the bar. But if you can afford to head to the bar, you should have cable.

Ohio State is 6-2 in night games at Ohio Stadium and 32-15 overall when games kickoff after 5 p.m. ET (local time).

Ohio State night games at Ohio Stadium:

2008 — Penn State 13, OSU 6 2005 — Texas 25, OSU 22 2003 — OSU 28, Washington 9 2001 — OSU 38, Northwestern 20 1999 — OSU 42, UCLA 20 1997 — OSU 24, Wyoming 10 1993 — OSU 21, Washington 12 1985 — OSU 10, Pitt 7

What game could ABC have on bigger than OSU USC? Hopefully we don’t get bozo announcers to boot.

Well, I for one will be at that big party at The Greene. Me and all the other rich dudes will be enjoying the parking lot party and all the hot rich women. Stay away moochers I’m not buying you a beer. I got a Beamer payment due.

With thuh ohio states performances in big games lately this game should be on at noon on ESPNU with Pam Ward and Chris Speilman. Ratings for this game outside of Ohio and So-Cal will be pathetic.

The game will be on ESPN because ABC is showing a NASCAR race that night at 7 p.m..

OSU bumped off ABC for NASCAR? Yea, let’s watch Billy Bob and the rest of the NASCAR goobers run counter clock wise around a track and listen to comments like “Man, that #24 car checked up cuz the #8 was loose and that ole boy in the #99 run right up on his bumper”. ABC should have subtitles at the bottom of the screen with the English translation of the announcer’s Hillbillyonics comments. NASCAR is nothing more than Big Time Wrestling on four wheels.

For someone who doesn’t watch NASCAR, Ed sure does know the lingo.

Let us hope we don’t get Brent Musburger for the announcer.

Ed, I like listening to the announcers on NASCAR TV. At least they don’t talk like a bunch of Northern bluenoses.

I’m with Ed. NASCAR is garbage. I also like Panther’s point about OSU recent performances, and deserving to be on ESPNU. The Buckeyes completely sucked in their blowout loss to Texas - what a bunch of scrubs. They’re pretty much doomed to the cellar of college football for the next 20 years. Why can’t those good for nothing losers win every game!?!? Not-so-random thought: being Bengals fan must really suck.

Ed, you got this one right! When the NASCAR guy said “I couldn’t keep cuz she’s been runnin loose all day”. I thought he was talking about his old lady.

I’m looking forward to the game: I can already here the excuses that ESPN will make IF OSU blows them out…USC’s QB went to the pros, etc., On another point, am I to assume this is the same Matt from Hal’s Blog? IF so, I hope all is well…Lastly: I’ve never understood why people come to a blog if they are haters…Go to your team’s sites, and blogs, and leave us alone…

why do we come to a blog to bash others teams,,for one thing I do it to keep buckeye fans in check,,they seem to think sweater vest is a god and that they should be national champions every year even though they can’t compete outside the big ten, so with my prohetic predictions i can bring the high street punks down to earth where they put their vest booble heads back in the closer until they beat another akron or Otterbein.

Quit crying you hillbillies. ABC is obligated to cover the NASCAR race according to its contract. More people across the country will watch NASCAR than a college game.
