Ward going on IR, season over

Browns coach Pat Shurmur said today that safety T.J. Ward’s sprained foot has not healed as hoped so he’s being placed on injured reserve, meaning his season is over.

Shurmur also said quarterback Colt McCoy was in the building today, “got treatment, did a little bit of physical activity, was in the meetings and then he went home.”

McCoy (concussion) won’t travel to Baltimore, Shurmur said. Nor will he be made available to the media. Receiver Jordan Norwood (concussion) also is out this week.

On other matters, Shurmur said:

— More is expected out of quarterback Seneca Wallace after last week’s start in McCoy’s absence: “He’s going to be, as I mentioned earlier in the week, more comfortable with the speed of the game. He’ll be more familiar with the receivers he’s throwing to and just generally more comfortable.”

— Running back Montario Hardesty is “healthier than he’s been the last few weeks” and might be called upon more, although if Peyton Hillis performs as he did against the Cardinals, it might be hard for anyone else to get on the field.

— He would have no comment about Steelers linebacker James Harrison saying the Browns should be fined for bringing a possibly-concussed McCoy back two plays after being knocked senseless by Harrison in the Pittsburgh game.

I think the suspension for any NFL player that causes another player a concussion should be the same number of games that the injured player is out for. Mabe that would make meatheads like Harrison think about it before he uses the crown of his helmet next time. Nothing else has.

I think many times players are not purposely making helmet to helmet contact. Its difficult to know when its on purpose or by accident. Football is a dangerous sport just like race car driving and boxing. These players know the risks. Many time the QBs hold on to the ball way too long. I think the QBs are babied already. Lets just get it over with and say you canot touch a QB and the play is blown dead once the defense gets within arms lenght of the QB.

Take the helmets out of the game and the problem is solved.

If in question, McCoy should never have been brought back in that it is not like they were hopefuls for a wild card or anything -
