Big Kindle eReader news coming soon from Amazon?
Amazon.com has been dominating the eReader market so far and they are always seemingly a step ahead of the competition when it comes to preserving their dominance in the eReader world.
One quibble with the proprietary Amazon Kindle eBook reader has been that it lacks the ability to download the plethora of ePub material which is now available. But this deficiency could be ending soon. According to the industry blog Good eReader, Amazon.com appears to be laying the foundation for that potential enhancement of their Kindle device. The article states:
“We have some rather breaking news with online giant Amazon and their highly successful line of Kindle e-readers. It seems many publishers have been told by the company that in the near-future, they should be submitting their books to Amazon in EPUB format and not exclusively MOBI. They also went on to let us know that Amazon was indeed planning something BIG and that soon the Kindle ereader will have the full capability to read ePub books. This news has been confirmed by at least 4 publishing companies we have spoken with during the last few days.”

I just use my iPad; get the free kindle app and free nook app, and no problem with electronic books.

It’s sad how technologically incompetent many readers are. Calibre is freeware you can download that will convert any epub (or any other format including .pdfs) to .mobi. I was hoping you’d heard they were ready to go with color eInk.
