No wonder Palin’s book was a best seller…

Well, Sarah Palin certainly found an effective way to boost the sales numbers for her memoir Going Rogue. Apparently she has forked out 63 thousand dollars (so far) to buy copies of her own book. Cool.

Late to this thread but I just have to say that despite my considerable expertise in googling stuff, I cannot find anywhere online that says Stephen King or Hillary Clinton ever bought up a ton of their own books. I think the commenter must be confusing them with Regnery authors who routinely make the bestseller lists thanks to rightwing think tanks buying up copies. Palin’s book legitimately made the bestseller list, and her PAC buying up copies is legal because she’s not running for office right now (otherwise it would be totally illegal). It’s also legal for Palin to take $100,000 for talking to the Tea Party Convention today because what’s public office for if not a platform to bail on once you’re on the money-making circuit. She is what she is, and them that can’t see the real Sarah ain’t lookin’ very hard. Fox News, btw, is pulling out their hair because 1) she’s not well informed enough about anything to talk on mic without a script, 2) she fails to stick to Roger Ailes-approved talking points, and 3) for the most part her comments make no sense (not my opinion, this is what’s leaking out of Fox). She is the anti-Obama — put ‘em both in a blender and you’d get back something that would exceed the sum of its parts.

Tubbs, One does not have to be a Palin hater to hold her in low regard. Her choice to abandon the office of Governor of Alaska to write her book and “cash in” speaks for itself. It is my wish that she not run for national office…We are living in challenging times and need leaders that can swim in the deep water.

I bought Monica Lewinsky’s book and it came with a swatch of a stained blue dress. BHO’s came with a 1/2 ounce and she gets my wife off my back for 4 years.

Vick, I can’t help but notice the anti-Palin bloggers here have trouble with grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. Maybe you could review a good instructional book to help them.

I think Palin proved her lack of qualifications during the campaign last year, and I think you proved your lack of qualifications with this nonsense. According to the NY Daily News article you link to, there was a print run of 2.8 million copies. If only half were sold at an average wholesale price of $10 (I do not know wholesale prices of books, but $10 sounds about right and a more accurate figure changes the math by little), the sales to Palin are about 4.5% of total sales. To suggest or imply that the book’s bestseller status was based on her purchase of $63,000 worth of books is ridiculous.

Water B, I wouldn’t call her “old news” just yet. Her facebook post about Rahm Emanuel’s poor choice of words has made the news. Say what you will, Mrs Palin has a lot of influence.

Gee Mick, I’m sure we can go through your archives and we can see where you pointed this out for nearly every (D) who did the same thing. She buys some copies to give to big contributers, big news.

waterboard madoff - why are you waiting for the coloring book? You and the Palin haters won’t understand that either.

This issue is that Palin took money from her PAC to buy the books, which is not allowed. She could buy them with her own money, but she didn’t. She used money that was given to her PAC.

Every right wing lier needs to be called out each and every time, the are not honest. It has nothing to do with being a threat, and has everything to do with setting the record straight about her bogus “top selling book”. She is a fraud from start to finish….

As I recall, her publisher printed 1.6 million copies. I’m guessing w/o the copies she purchased, she still sold over a million books. I got a Borders Rewards discount on mine and used a gift card (I’m a thrifty guy) but still paid $16.00 or so for it. I wish I could of found it for $4.95.

I don’t believe everything I read but, it is amazing that no Democrat has ever thought of doing such a thing, so again, Sarah The Trailblazer showing the way. I’m pretty sure that the amount wouldn’t be enough on its own to create a best-seller. Unbelievable the amount of problems this great lady of Alaska causes the libs.

Did you know Steven King just bought 100,000 worth of his own latest book? Or how bout Hillary Clinton shelling out 75 grand for her book. It is common for authors to purchase hundreds of copies of their own books to give to charities, friends, family and supporters..Of course you would expect this kind of tripe from the Dayton Daily Rag..

Isn’t this a fairly common trick by politicians who write books? The campaign or some boosters buy books and give them away?

By mwm

So the article indicates that her own “supporters” wouldn’t even buy the book. No surprise there…

Palin’s book was selling as an after thought in conjunction with other books on TV for $4.95. Next, it will be in the 3 for a dollar bargain bins at Odd Lots. Palin might as well tape a sign on her forehead saying “I’m not to be taken seriously” What a trollip.
