much ado about Stephenie Meyer

31YcWxXq9QL._SL500_AA240_.jpg

Every day I check out the top selling books on Amazon.com. At the moment there are three books in the top ten on Amazon by Stephenie Meyer. Her new book, BREAKING DAWN, is set for an August release. It is already at #5 on the Amazon sales chart. Two other books by Meyer are in the Amazon top ten. Wow! I guess I had better check her stuff out?

I haven’t read her books. Does anybody have any thoughts? Have you read her stuff? What do you find appealing about her writing??

I hope you’re enjoyig it. “The Host” was a quick read for me - I’m getting ready to dive back in. I broke down this weekend and bought my own copy of “Twilight” so I don’t have to keep asking my daughter. Read it, then turned around and started it again (this is 4th read now). I should be able to point out every single discrepancy with the screenplay!

You’re welcome. Keep in mind though that “The Host” is very different from the “Twilight” saga. I am an avid reader (think shampoo bottles, cereal boxes, 1000+ page books), but the “Twilight” series knocked me flat. (And I’m just a 35-year-old married lady…)

You haven’t read any of Meyer’s books yet? Boy, you are missing out. My 13-year-old daughter knows how much I love to read, and since we bought the Twilight series for her birthday, I figured… Why not? I picked up “Twilight” on a Thursday evening and was done by the next evening, including work, sleep and all that. I dove right in to “New Moon” Saturday morning and was done by noon. Since she and “Eclipse” were at a relative’s, I had to wait till Sunday night for my fix. When she got home… 629 pages in 3 hours, one sitting. I have since re-read them and am getting ready to start again. Meyer also has a more adult-oriented novel, “The Host”, which took me about 4 hours to read. The writing is enthralling, the characters true to life. Romance, teen angst, vampires, action - what more do you need?
