has anybody used the Amazon Kindle??

I have not used one. It is the new wireless reading device from Amazon.com. Have you used one? Has anybody?

What is it it like? Share your experiences - the good and the bad?

I own a kindle and love it. I read far more than I did before I baught it. Also I find that the E-ink is easier to read than paper. For example, I cannot read books in ultra bright sunlight, but with the Kindle I can. Also the extras are amazing. Free wireless Internet is awesome. (free after the outrageous 400 dollar price tag)In the end I would recomend the kindle to anyone. It is the best purchase I have made in the last year.

I’m not convinced that the Kindle will revolutionize reading but I favor any device that will improve literacy and encourage people to read more books.

Well, it’s from Amazon so I wouldn’t consider it. I love books, the heft, the feel, my eyes get tired from screens but not from print. I have zero interest in this device. And the fact that Amazon is pushing it convinces me completely.

I looked at Amazon’s demo, and I really don’t see any advantage to it. My son uses Rocket e-book to download to his PDA, and I have downloaded a few books to my laptop. Both work well, and don’t require you to buy yet another gizmo. Have you checked out the Baen free library? It’s not for everybody’s taste, but there’s some very good free fiction available there.

I was going to get one when they first came out. It sounded like a great product. BUT, I read the reviews on Amazon, which were not good, and took a pass. I still think it’s a great idea, but sounds like the execution of the idea was not so good.
