Bengals trade for Leonard

Big C learned moments ago that the Cincinnati Bengals completed a rare player-for-player trade earlier today. The Bengals traded defensive tackle Orien Harris to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for running back Brian Leonard. The trade was comfirmed by Leonard’s agent Mike McCartney.

The 6-foot-1, 229-pound Leonard is a third-year pro and was the Rams’ second-round draft pick in 2007 (52nd overall). He played in 16 games with seven starts as rookie, rushing for 303 yards on 86 carries (3.5-yard average) and catching 30 passes for 183 yards.

It is anticipated that Leonard will play a backup role to starter Cedric Benson in short-yardage and nickel situations.

Hey free, your lacking mental acumen in the realm of the pigskin is striking, yet not surprising from what I read on these posts. First, Leonard went to Rutgers, not LSU. Secondly, how do you know how much of a weapon he will be when he has very meger stats during his NFL tenure. You need to not get so excited about this trade and save up the excitement for when you finally move out of your parents basement.

Nice commentary, dipsticks. Leonard was injured most of last season. In 2007, he ran for over 300 yards (102 against Arizona) and had 30 catches. Do a little homework before you spout off. There’s more to the internet than porn, guys. Grow up and act like you know this.

Brian Leonard is a great pick up. Instantly he has the most impressive resume of any FB. Solid character guy and we can now replace overweight Jeremi Johnson. Who spells Jeremi with an “i” ?

It’s not this trade per se but that The Bengals actually seem to be trying to improve themselves and win this year that I’m excited about. Harris probably wasn’t going to make the team. At least bring in someone who has a chance to add some quality depth at rb.

What’s up Big C?! You have been missing in action since the draft. I miss reading your stuff bro. I have to say that you were dead on about the Bengals having a successful draft. They had a tremendous draft. I’m loving it and look forward to the season. Keep bringing the news big guy!

Could I please get an ebonics book to figure out what black ice said. We traded a guy that might not make the roster for a true 3rd down back. He will not be the every down fullback. He will give Benson blows, pick up the blitz on 3rd down if need be and sneek out of the backfield and he will have at least 30 catches this year. This just gives them more options and flexibility withing the offense. Solid trade.

Well sure another running back with experience in the NFL is good but we need another quality offensive lineman. Too much inexperience now and 1 good move not picked up on a blitz and say goodbye Carsen.
