Bengals change play-by-play announcers

Dan Hoard will become the sixth radio play-by-play voice in Bengals history, replacing Brad Johansen this season.

Other play-by-play announcers included Phil Samp, Ken Broo, Paul Keels and Pete Arbogast.

Last season, Hoard did play-by-play on the Bengals Preseason Television Network, and the former Channel 19 sportscaster has long been the radio voice of University of Cincinnati football and basketball. Hoard will continue with his UC posts, aside from games that conflict with the Bengals schedule.

Former Bengals guard Dave Lapham, known nationally as well as locally for his colorful style and football insight, will enter his 26th consecutive season as the analyst on the broadcasts.

The Bengals are bringing its radio rights ‘in-house’, with the team now coordinating the sales and operations of the broadcasts. According to other media outlets, the Reds did the same thing a couple years ago by taking advertising sales and production of games in house.

In addition to the game broadcasts, the team will also have special shows on Monday and Wednesday nights and on Friday afternoons. The radio station partnership and locations for the shows will be announced at a later date.

‘Lap & Dan’ will call the action from the booth and will be involved throughout Bengals Programming, including Bengals TV, Bengals.com and Bengals Social Media.

I don’t know about this. I’m gonna miss Bradly Imsohansome squeeling and wettin’ his britches during the brief moments when the Bengals actually play football. We’ll still get Davy Laugh’em going into the “locker room that is as quiet as a morgue” after they lose another game. Davy can get all giddy during the game too. Both can be good comical entertainment. Hoard is rather dull and boring in his delivery. Won’t be the same without ‘ole Bradly.

They replaced the wrong person on the radio team. Dave Lapham is the worst color commentator in the NFL. In between plays, he does not know when to shutup. During plays, he yells and screams so you can’t hear the play-by-play. Dan will be a good replacement for Brad but Lap needs to go!

I kind of enjoyed Brad Johannson’s play-by-play myself. I was always kind of amused by his leisurely style, like he’s seen this movie MANY times before- as we all had. Here’s to the new guy. I’ve never heard of him but that doesn’t mean anything. Go Bengals.
