Series features Ren Fest jouster

Shane Adams, one of the featured jousters for the past five years at the annual Ohio Renaissance Festival and a resident of the Warren County village of Harveysburg, will be featured on a History Channel reality series that will premiere at 10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12.

Festival colleagues and others will host a premiere party for the show, which is called “Full Metal Jousting,” from 8 to 11 p.m. that night at Buffalo Wild Wings, 6210 Wilmington Pike, Centerville.

A world champion in what has been called the most dangerous collision sport, Adams will host and be one of the coaches for “Full-Metal Jousting,” a competition in which some fighters will advance each week and some will fall by the wayside.

Instead of traditional armor, they will wear suits of modern steel. High-speed cameras will record their 30 miles per hour collisions.

A native of Ontario, Adams heads a jousting troupe known as the Knights of Valour and is past president of the World Championship Jousting Association. He has won more than 15 titles in his sport.
