Wilberforce Choir to sing at White House

Next stop for the the Wilberforce University Choir is the White House.

The 18-voice group under faculty member Jeremy Winston’s direction will perform during a party hosted by President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama on Thursday, Dec. 15.   The performance will be part of the choir’s holiday season tour, which also includes concerts in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and the Washington D.C. area.   Wilberforce is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Church and located in Wilberforce, Ohio.

The choir, which was part of the Dayton Opera’s production of “Porgy and Bess” during the 2010-11 season, recently performed with singer Roberta Flack and has shared the stage with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.
