Playhouse goes all-volunteer

The Dayton Playhouse has discontinued the contract of executive director Wade Hamilton.

Board chair Brian Sharp said the 52-year-old old community theater is “moving forward as an all-volunteer organization.”

Changes were also announced for the 2011-12 season, which will open with the Anne Nichols play “Abie’s Irish Rose,” instead of the previously announced musical “Jekyll and Hyde.”

A musical to be chosen will be added later in the season. For more information, go to www.daytonplayhouse.com.

“Wade was working as a contract employee and the contract was discontinued,” Sharp said. “The board feels that just like the Dayton Theatre Guild and Beavercreek Community Theatre, we need to be more hands on.”
