Hip hop dance studio opens
Kelly Dailey, a teacher, choreographer and the Dayton area’s leading proponent of hip hop dance, has opened her own studio in Kettering.
Funk Lab Dance and Creative Arts Center, located at 4041 Marshall Road near the intersection with Stroop Road, offers hip hop classes for children and adults, break dancing, popping, locking, urban choreography, cheer, contemporary, jazz and hip-hop tap.
Dailey (below), who was previously affiliated with the Howard School of Dance, said lessons in Bollywood, capoeira, painting and drawing will also be offered starting in winter. Her husband and partner in the studio is painter Andy Dailey.
Funk Lab is home base for two dance crews that perform and compete.
The studio plans to incorporate a Danz 4 Free scholarship and other youth outreach programs.
