Culture Works tops $1.3 million
Even though Culture Works more than earned a major challenge grant in one area of its 2011 campaign for the arts, the Dayton area’s united arts fund expects to fall short of the $1.45 million goal.
With $195,804 in new and increased gifts, it almost doubled the $100,000 target to qualify for a matching grant of $100,000 from the Harry A. Toulmin Jr. and Virginia B. Toulmin Fund of the the Dayton Foundation.
Donations also increased at more than 60 percent of workplace-giving sites. Employees at LexisNexis contributed a total of $63,000, up more than $5,000 from the year before. Those at Fifth Third Bank, Good Samaritan Hospital and GE Money also pledged notable increases.
Culture Works, which held its annual meeting Tuesday, June 28, estimated a total of $1,328,949 by the campaign’s end on Thursday, June 30.
