DCDC to perform in Chile
The Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, which has performed in Europe and Asia, will add South America to the list when it presents four performances in Santiago, Chile, Thursday through Sunday, April 7-10.
The troupe will dance four works in the performances at the Teatro Nescafe de las Artes in Santiago: “Traffic,” choreographed by artistic director Debbie Blunden-Diggs; “Children of the Passage,” by Donald McKayle and Ronald K. Brown; “The Pride,” by Daniel Marshall, and “Unresolved,” by Shonna Hickman-Matlock.
The tour came about through Culture Works, which hosted Chilean arts representatives in Dayton several years ago. They visited a rehearsal by DCDC and later sought performances by the company.
Funding by the Ohio Arts Council also supported the trip, DCDC’s first in nine years. The Dayton-based company has previously performed in Russia, France, South Korea and Poland.
