Cityfolk’s “Rise Up & Dance” gets serious
“Rise Up & Dance,” a 10-week cultural residency project coordinated by Cityfolk in the Dayton neighborhoods of Fairview, Twin Towers and Wright Dunbar, is nearing showcase time.
A final burst of rehearsals will begin Wednesday, March 9, leading up to a public performance at 6 p.m. March 19 at Stivers School for the Arts, 1313 E. Fifth St., Dayton.
Curated by Dayton choreographer Rodney Veal, the performance will draw upon participants’ stories of personal and community transformation.
Rise Up & Dance has paired at-risk youth and community members with internationally known artists.
