Dayton Opera backer wins U.S. honor

Longtime Dayton Opera staff member, supporter and volunteer Jackie Lockwood has been named one of four recipients of Opera America’s 2011 National Trustee Recognition Awards.

The honor by the national service organization for opera is based on exemplary leadership, generosity and audience-building efforts.

Other winners are Lynn Wyatt of Houston Grand Opera, Eleanor Caulkins of Opera Colorado and John I. Riddle of PORTopera (Portland, Maine).

Currently an honorary trustee of Dayton Opera, Lockwood has been active with the company for almost 40 years as a subscriber, member and board member of the Opera Guild of Dayton, marketing director, contributor, sponsor and trustee.
