WDPR to broadcast DPO opener
The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra’s season-opening concert Thursday, Sept. 23, at the Schuster Performing Arts Center will be broadcast live on Classical 88.1 WDPR-FM. It will be just the orchestra’s third live broadcast since it moved to the Schuster in 2003.
The concert will feature acclaimed Israeli violinist Vadim Gluzman on a program including Debussy’s tone poem “La mer” and the Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in D minor. The same works will be performed Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Schuster.
A Classical Connections concert will be given Friday, Sept. 24, also at the Schuster. Time is 8 p.m. all three days. Tickets are $13-$63. Call (937) 228-3630 or go online at www.ticketcenterstage.com.
Citilites in the Schuster will serve Dinner-by-the-Bites ($2 each) and champagne flutes ($5) starting at 6:45 p.m., or complete dinners. For reservations, call (937) 222-0623. Local pianist Linda Kessler will play on the DP&L stage.
Music director Neal Gittleman will give a “Take Note” presentation at 7 p.m. in the theater on Thursday and Saturday.
