Ballet adds performances in 2010-11

The Dayton Ballet will expand its season to four programs in 2010-11.

The company has announced a lineup that will open Oct. 28-31 with premieres by former Ohio Ballet artistic director Jeffrey Graham Hughes and resident company choreographer Karen Russo Burke.

“The Nutcracker” will return in December, Russo Burke’s “A Streetcar Named Desire” will be revived in February, and there will be a spring repertory program of new and past works.

Hughes plans a new ballet about one of history’s most famous playboys, Giacomo Casanova. Russo Burke’s “Eve of Frankenstein” will be her answer to the question, “What if Frankenstein had been a woman?”

In response to financial challenges, company director Dermot Burke presented a season of just three performances this year.

Season tickets starting at $92 are available at (937) 449-5060. For more information, go to www.daytonballet.org.
