sounds like merle is the one going downhill fast…fraze is one of the great gems of our region

It’s entirely the Fraze’s fault for booking people who may become sick. Yet another misguided blaming post on the DDN boards.

Yeah, those $5 and free concerts are pretty rough on the wallet.

JL, can you please explain to us how the Fraze would know that Merle would fall sick? Isn’t it quite possible that ANYONE could fall sick at any given time? Was it the Nutter Center’s fault for booking Rascal Flatts because a member fell sick earlier this year. SHAME ON THE NUTTER CENTER for booking someone who could become sick! The Fraze has more bookings in the summer than any other venue in this area. I would venture to say, they might just be a gem if they get that kind of business… Nutter Center on the other hand… tisk tisk tisk…

ALSO, the shows set their pricing… not the venue. It is an agreement between the two parties… so to blame FRAZE for high pricing is absurd!

By Not expensive

Comparitively to other venues for the mainline acts they got, Fraze is pretty affordable. And how many other venues have all the $5 and under events like Fraze. Sounds like JL is a disgruntled ex-employee or he works for a competitor. Yep, the Fraze is a gem.

The Fraze has never paid its’ own way since it was built, and tickets are affordable because the operation is subsidized by the taxpayers. The true operating costs of the Fraze are hidden in various department’s budgets. Kettering Gov’t. doesn’t want the hard working (or unemployed) taxpayer to see the true cost of the Fraze.

I wish the Black Crows would have cancelled! Last night’s concert was disappointing for sure. They only played one of their hit songs!! As for JL is right-you are an idiot. You blame Fraze for booking an artist that may become sick?? That means they shouldn’t book anyone to play there!!

JL- okay fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion, but how can you blame fraze for Merle’s illness? Should they not have scheduled Sheryl Crow due to breast cancer? Her shows were some of the biggest and best in Fraze history! She even made a Live DVD of her shows at Fraze.

Agree with the Black Crowes comment about Wednesday nights’ show. The show was a major disappointment to me. The Crowes mailed that one in, shame on them.

This from the Fraze website — “August 13 Show with Ides of March and Edgar Winter WHIO TV concert series featuring The Ides of March and Edgar Winter in concert Thursday August 13 has been canceled. If you have already purchased tickets please return them to the original point of purchase for refund. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

The Fraze is a great venue, but I don’t like the “Fraze nazis” who patrol the place basically telling anyone having fun to stop having fun. Telling people they can’t dance is absurd. But then again, it is in Kettering, the no-fun capital of the Miami Valley.

b illy you are an idiot. subsidized? if you are worried about that are you deranged. RTA subsidy is $85.

Perhaps the reason they ask you not to dance is so the people behind you can see and have some fun, too.

if you’re going to sit at a concert and complain when someone in front of you wants to stand up you have no reason to complain. Just stand up and let everyone enjoy themselves

and for the record… The Fraze IS a great asset to Kettering. If for no other reason than I can sit on my porch, reading a book, drinking a beer and listen to the great music for free! (Well, there is that Lyle Lovett thing I have to suffer through…)

I understand the the Fraze has lost their number one food vendor for the Swamp Romp - “Big Jim’s Jambalaya”. It’s a shame, they had the best food at the event.

Reading posts made by you people makes me so happy I am getting out of this uneducated hellhole town. MOST Daytonians wouldn’t know culture if it came up and stole your marlboros or lottery tickets.

Give the “Venue” (The Fraze) a break. Prima Donna performers are just that. As you sit in your seat and enjoy “what you remembered”…realize that the performer on the stage could give (Naval Terminology here: (“A flyin’ F—K”) if you enjoyed it… or not. You’re a commodity, a cash cow, lose it here, make it up there….it’s business, and they could care less. The “song of love/remembrence/ethics/comraderie has been flagulatted. “Can I make the down payment on (insert “want” here) when this concert is finished? Hey…as long as you unemployed Ohioans are happy with smoke and mirrors, and thoughts that will never come back in reality, you’re O.K. The trains are to transport you to a “vacation” area…where you’ll all be at your leasure to enjoy your life….

Enough with beating up on the Fraze! Those of you who are negative on the Fraze wouldn’t be happy if it were gone either. As for the Fraze “Nazi’s”, as it was put by “Fraze Police”, above, the employees are doing what they’re told to do in order to protect their liquor license so you can continue to get liquored up and enjoy yourself. The place isn’t a low-life dance hall as you would have it. You would go and screw up the evening for way too many other people. Better for you to stay home. For “b illy”, above, I seem to remember reading in the paper a couple years ago that the Fraze started turning a profit and the subsidy stopped. Kettering, and the surrounding area, are very lucky to have a first-rate facility like the Fraze.

I don’t know what you folks that claimed to have heard the Black Crowes on Wednesday are referring to with claims of a poor performance. They sounded incredible…2 hours and 20 minutes of playing time. Chris Robinson’s voice was on point has not withered with time. Fraze, keep on rocking…true blessing for the community.

the problem with fraze is that most of the audience in the lawn think they’re at home and carry on conversations while others are trying to listen to the music - Fraze should kick them out after one warning

The Fraze is stellar. It is an absolute musical emporium that cannot be surpassed in any other venue offered in the United States. Red Rocks in Colorado is a mere sand trap of stumbling rocks constructed by autistic tyretts syndome wanna “be’s” that think Jethro Tull is a member of the band. Heck, they even missed the truth about Jethro Tull in “Independence Day”…that stated that Jethro Tull was the name of the band…not a member of the band. I hope this decalaration helps those who are confused as to what clarification needs to be addressed so we can be politically in line with all the thought that is relevent to what is really happening in Obama’s crotch. Got you goin’ there…didn’t I????!!!!…and you ended up in Obama’s crotch!!!! Smells you like down there?????

For the Black Crowe critics, thay actually played, hits and many songs that have had radio play. when you go to a show and expect to hear hits, and songs played exactly like on the album, then go see Toby Keith, and REO Speedwagon, and all that crap. The Black Crowes play a different set list nightly, to keep it fresh, fun, and different. and what really blows me away is, you didnt even reconize that Levon Helm Band, was a super warm up show! Levon Flew in just to play at the fraze, he wasnt even on the regular tour! and while he had throat problems, and his band sang for him, it was fantastic, and when the Two brothers from the Crowes, Chris and Rich. came out to sing ” The Weight” with his band. it was really, good. So my advice for you Crowe fans that were disappointed. you really dont know much more than radio stuff! and that is sad! so here is the setlist for the show for those of you, that went and those that didnt. notice Sting Me, and Jealous again as big hits in a day. the beauty of being in a band is you get to play what you want!!Sting Me Seeing Things Evergreen Jam -> Black Moon Creeping I Ain’t Hiding Ballad In Urgency -> Wiser Time The Dolphins Locust Street My Morning Song Nonfiction Movin’ On Down The Line A Conspiracy Jealous Again Wounded Bird - encore - Descending Pimper’s Paradise
