Suziki B-King

Well I was finally able to take my first ride on the new Suzuki B-King and all I can say is WOW. I had heard this bike had the same engine as the new Hyabusa so I just figured it was a dialed down version of that engine. Boy was I wrong….

When you first sit on this bike you will notice your riding position is upright more like a sport cruiser. You sit so far forward I began to have flashbacks of my youth when I had a dirt bike.

My first ride was a short one around the parking lot where I work. This bike looks big but is much more nimble that it looks. When I counter-steered to make my first turn it dipped so effortlessly I though for a moment I was going down. I gave a little twist to the very responsive throttle and around the turn and down the straightaway I went.

That night I made a B-Line for some curvy roads in Greene County. To my surprise this bike had power, power, and more power. I ride a GSX-R 1000 and I think the B-King pulls even harder than my GSX-R under heavy acceleration.

Taking corners was quite fun once I got used to the new riding position and began to trust the abilities of the bike.

I approached a slow moving car that was threatening to ruin my fun so I dipped to the left, rolled on the throttle, and said some profanities as I lifted the front wheel and reached some obscene speed in just a couple of seconds.

If you want a more comfortable ride than what you receive from a traditional sports bike but don’t want to give up the power and handling this just might be the bike for you.

Shiny Side Up!
