Stewart, Kahne to race Kings Royal weekend
The Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway is one of the biggest winged-sprint car events in the country. It just added a little more star power.
Eldora track owner and NASCAR Sprint Cup points leader Tony Stewart and fellow Cup driver Kasey Kahne will compete against the National Racing Alliance (NRA) Sprint Invaders as an undercard to the $50,000-to-win Kings Royal on July 17-18 at the Darke County track.
“Any time I can get behind the wheel of a sprint car, I look back and appreciate my career,” said Stewart, an Indiana native who grew up running sprints in the Midwest. “When it comes to competition, I love to race and I love to win. Eldora will be no different.”
Added Kahne, “It doesn’t matter where I’m racing or what type of car I’m in. If I’m behind the wheel, I’m racing for the trophy … and it would be special to win at Eldora.”
Stewart and Kahne also field teams for the Kings Royal. Donny Schatz and Kraig Kinser drive for Stewart; Joey Saldana and Craig Dollansky for Kahne.
