Finally … racing weather!
It looks like Mother Nature is going to let the area do some racing this weekend. Here are a few notes and nuggets:
• North Lewisburg’s Nathan Herron goes for his third straight late model win at Shady Bowl Speedway this weekend. The Champaign County track hosts racing action both Friday and Saturday, April 17-18. Covington’s Brandon Bayse (Ohio Valley Dwarf cars) and Springfield’s Kenny Murnahan (Detroit Iron) are also off to 2-0 starts at the Bowl.
• Former Miamisburg resident Megan Reitenour is in 10th place in the late model standings at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, N.C. She’s in action again tonight at the 4/10th-mile banked asphalt track.
• Hoffman Auto Racing, with Jerry Coons Jr. behind the wheel of the No. 69 non-wing sprint car, captured its 73rd USAC feature win last Saturday at Eldora Speedway. The Cincinnati-based team celebrates 80 seasons in racing this year.
