The blob is no Ana
The blob of disturbed weather floating over the Bahamas is becoming absorbed into the non-tropical low over Florida, meaning its already slim chances of forming a named storm have dwindled.
A Hurricane Hunter flight readied for today has been called off.
“LITTLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NON-TROPICAL LOW OVER FLORIDA IS EXPECTED AS IT MOVES WESTWARD INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO AT 10 MPH OVER THE NEXT DAY OR TWO,” the National Hurricane Center said in a morning advisory. The agency plans no more special tropical outlooks on this system.
Ana — the moniker in reserve for the first named storm of 2009 — seems safe from an early deployment. Meanwhile, South Florida has received some needed rain. The chance of rain remains 80 percent today for West Palm Beach, falling to 70 percent Wednesday.
